Delhi govt to focus on existing housing & urban developments projects

NEW DELHI: Delhi government did not announce any new scheme under housing and urban development, but plans to focus on projects that are already in different stages of implementation. The sector has been allocated Rs 3,113 crore for its various schemes, up 21% compared to the revised estimate of 2016-17.

To make Delhi open-defecation-free, the government will deliver 6,000 new toilets by June 2017 and another 5,000 till the year end.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia also announced that new night shelters will be constructed for the homeless in Nangloi Phase-II, Dwarka Sector 3, Rohini Sector 5 and Geeta Colony near the JJ Basti.

Sisodia highlighted the relocation of 500 slum dwellers from various JJ colonies in Jwalapuri, Kirti Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Janpath and NH-24 to flats in Baprola and Dwarka.
